India becoming a Super Power by 2020 will be difficult: E Balagurusamy

Former Indian president APJ Abdul Kalam has once prophesied (means Bhavishyavani) that India will become a developed nation by 2020.

But if the present scenario is an indication, then former vice-chancellor of Anna University and presently member of the Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission E Balagurusamy feels that India becoming a Super Power by 2020 will be difficult if not impossible.

Delivering the second convocation address at Kalasalingam University in Krishnankovil, in Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu, on Saturday, Mr. Balagurusamy said:

200 million ( 20 crore OR 17 out of every hundred people in India) went to bed hungry and there were 300 million( 30 crore OR 25 out of every hundred people in India) people living below poverty line. About 400 million( 40 crore OR 33 out of every hundred people in India) were illiterate and 840 million( 84 crore OR 70 per cent of the population) had no sanitation facilities and 360 million( 36 crore OR 30 out of every hundred people in India) had no access to potable drinking. In that context, will it be possible for the country to become developed within the next eight years?”

Think it over!
