The Uttarakhand state Cabinet has cleared the draft of Public Service Bill and a proposal regarding illegal possession of assets by public servants.

Under the proposed Draft, special courts will be set up for corruption cases against public servants and the wealth illegally hoarded by them will be seized by the state government (but only after giving the alleged public servants an opportunity to make their clarification).

The Uttarakhand cabinet also gave a green signal to the draft of the Right to Public Service bill, which seeks to deliver the common man public services like, electricity connection, ration card, driving license, birth, death certificates within a specified time frame.

Taking inspiration from BJP ruled Bihar Government, Uttarakhand , Bihar, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh have also decided to confiscate unaccounted property of public servants.
