Keeping in view Uttarakhand’s natural disaster prone status (like landslides, floods etc) and the difficulties posed in disaster response by the tough terrain of Uttarakhand, the central and Uttarakhand government have decided to set up NDRF battalion at Roorkee.

The new battalion which will have its headquarters in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand will help in efficient dealing with such natural disasters, said Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

The proposal for setting up of the battalion, has already received a nod from Centre, and 70 acres of land has already been allotted by the Uttarakhand Government.
