The Uttarakhand government has removed VAT on Rs 3.14 a litre hike in petrol price.
As a result the hike in petrol price has been minimised by Rs 0.78 a litre.
In other words, because of this step, a litre of petrol will cost be 78 paise less.
The measure would cost the Uttarakhand exchequer Rs 21.78 crore per annum.
In June also, the state government had announced a similar relief in VAT on the prices of petroleum products.
