The Uttarakhand government yesterday announced a 25 per cent exemption in stamp duty to disabled persons in purchasing land costing up to Rs 5 lakh.

Hence if a disabled person in Uttarakhand has to pay a stamp duty of Rs 25000 on a land costing less than or equal to Rupees 5,00,000; then he/she will get a Rupees 6250 exemption on Rs 25000 Stamp Duty. Thus the said person will have to pay Rupees 18750 instead of Rs 25000.

NOTE: A disabled person will get the exemption only when he/she buys land on his name; and he/she will have to attach a valid Disability/PH Handicapped certificate.
