Uttarakhand Government to set up Cooperatives by Women Self-Help Groups

The Uttarakhand Government has decided to set up 40 new cooperatives to be run by women self-help groups.

The total budget for the project is expected to be around Rs 25 lakh and out of which Rs 15 lakh will be raised through loans. These cooperatives would be set up with the help of the Woman and Child Welfare Department.

Thus a little maths, tells us that, a Single Self help Group chosen by the Government would get Rs 62,500. Out of this Rs 37,500 would be in cash and 2500 would be provided as cash.

Although, there always remains a possibility of corruption in such kind of money allocation; but still it can be hoped that the 'small size of money allocation' would keep Big NGO guys out of the scene. And the project will empower needy women of the state.
