Uttarakhand Agriculture Board to be set up

In an effort to help farmers in Uttarakhand fetch appropriate price for crops, the Uttarakhand government would shortly set up an agriculure marketing board.

The announcement in this regard is made by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, iIn a meeting held in Dehradun on May 9 with the entrepreneurs engaged in food processing. The Agricultural Board would help farmers in marketing their produce and maintaining better coordination with the investors, emphasized the CM.

In order to help reach the full food processing potential of Uttarakhand, a state having just the right climate for fruit and vegetable cultivation, the CM asked the entrepreneurs engaged in food processing to set up maximum industries in the hill region. He also announced to establish food parks in the Kumaon and Garhwal regions. He also asked the entrepreneurs to set up food processing industries in these parks assuring them of all possible assistance from the state government. In this regard, he said Vir Chandra Singh Garhwali Tourism self employment scheme would also be linked with the food processing industry so that more youths get employments.
