Rishikesh has been a popular destination for pilgrims from time immemorial. But in the past few decades, the city has become popular with tourists who want to do more than simply taking a holy dip in the river Ganges. For such tourists: river rafting in Ganges, bungee jumping in Shivpuri, Physiotherapy, trekking and Yoga & Meditation -- also feature in the list of the doable. Courtesy, the popularity of these activities, all sorts of service providers (Best to worst) are mushroomed in the city and its outskirts (especially in the Gita Bhawan or Swarg Ashram and Laxman Jhula).

There are a few genuine Yoga teachers in Rishikesh. One among these is, Mr. Rajendra Pandey.
Rajendra Pandey, has a vast experince in teaching Yoga. He is an Alumni Parmarth Niketan and holds a masters degree in Yogic Sciences from Uttranchal Sanskrit University. He began teaching Yoga at Parmarth niketan, followed by Yog Niketan and later joined the Health Spa, Ananda, Narendranagar, as an instructor. Later he turned a free lancer and taught Yoga at prestigious Hotel chains and Institutions, in various countries across the world, for more than half a decade.
In late 2011, Mr. Pandey has started his own Yoga Centre, the "Rajendra Yoga & Wellness Centre (RYWC)" at Tapovan, LaxmanJhula, Rishikesh. The Centre is a popular destination for serious Yoga aspirants from Japan, South Korea and Western countries.

Pros:
1) Apart from Higher Education and vast experience in Yoga, Mr. Pandey also holds degree in life sciences. Hence, for serious Yoga aspirants, he expertly links Yoga benefits with human anatomy, so that the message and the benefits of a particular Yoga poses are conveyed correctly without injury.
2) The Centre is spacious and situated in beautiful surroundings.
Cons:
The Yoga Centre doesn't have boarding facilities at present. Hence you have to visit the centre for your classes. But the good thing is, there are a couple of Good Guest Houses at a walking distance from RYWC.
