Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag and Udhamsingh Nagar

The Uttarakhand Cabinet has approved the opening up of Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag and Udhamsingh Nagar districts. In the new schools, 50 per cent seats would be allocated to government-sponsored students while the remaining would be filled by private players on fee structure to be decided by them.

The remaining eight out of the 13 districts in the state already had Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalayas.

The new schools will be operated under the PPP model.

Mis-reporting:

Some newspapers and TV channels are saying that these schools were earlier sanctioned as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee residential schools.

This is not true.

Actually, the previous five school sanctions were made by the previous BJP Government. That's why they were named after "Shyama Prasad Mukherjee", the role model of BJP.

But merely sanctioning new schools doesn't mean anything.

If Congress Government would have renamed existing schools; that would have been bad.
