The Fall of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal...

Written by Anil Singh

You may be aware that Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (P)'s Tivendra Singh Panwar is contesting Tehri Lok Sabha By-poll.

This is an interesting development, as the UKD(P) MLA, who is also a minister in the Bahuguna led Congress Government in the state, Mr. Pritam Singh Panwar, is against his party's decision to contest the October 10 election.

But the party supremo, Trivendra Signh Panwar is NOT budging. He is determined to contest.

As a consequence, Pritam Panwar faction in UKD (P) has slid over to the Congress. That is they will be supporting Saket bahuguna's candidature.

Now this is thought provoking. As it has once again proved that Uttarakhand People (including Trivendra and Pritam Singh Panwar) know just two loyalties -- towards BJP OR towards Congress. The minds of Uttarakhand people are not programmed for regional aspirations (regional parties).

Trivendra Singh Panwar's decision to contest the election seems to some, including his party man Pritam Panwar as an attempt to indirectly help the BJP. Whether Trivendra Panwar has done this consciously is an altogether different question.

So is this The Fall of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal  -- the sole Regional party of Uttarakhand?

Suppose Pritam Singh drifts to Congress and say Trivendra Singh Panwar to BJP. Then the party is automatically  finished.

We have seen this happening to other faction UKD, the UKP (D), which interestingly decided to contest the uttarakhand Assembly Polls 2012 on Lotus Symbol.

PS: Unfortunately Uttarakhand needed regional aspirations, but we are in an unfortunate polity -- where lack of political wisdom in both us, the voters and the politicians, kills anything regional.
