TET complusory for BTC, Shiksha Mitras as well: Uttarakhand HC

The Honorable Uttarakhand High Court, Nainital, in its yesterday ruling made Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) mandatory (compulsory) for BTC, Shiksha Mitras as well.

Regarding the Uttarakhand Government's recent order of recruiting Non-TET regular BTC passout trainees in primary Schools in the state; the Hon'ble HC declared the said appointment unlawful.

Notably, the Uttarakhand Government has released the GO for the said appointments on June 14, 2011 and August 29, 2012. A section of BEd TET holders found these appointments unnecessary and filed a petition in Hon'ble Nainital HC.

The Decision is going to negatively affect the BTC trained Shiksha Mitras as well; who had demanded a job, in the same manner, as is given to ' Non-TET Regular BTC trainees'.

If the Order of the HC is implemented, then BTC passouts will have to qualify TET to get a job in Primary Schools in Uttarakhand.

Opinion: This appears to be a balanced judgement. particularly from the Youth point of view. When TET is compulsory for BEd passouts; then why BTC holders be treated differently. That apart, Eligibility Tests are a good way to choose best candidates.

That said, there's another hint that should be taken from the judgement. That hint is: Don't do BEd or BTC, if you don't like the teaching job OR if your academic performance in Xth, XIIth, Graduation, Post Graduation is not good (or great).

The reason is: There are not much jobs in Education Sector as well.

With increasing competition (So many BEd and BTC Colleges in the market), ONLY the Best candidates will get the limited jobs.

So spend the "Rs 1 Lakh, you spend on Self-Financed BEd" on some other professional Course in other job sectors. Competition will be there as well; but if you choose a sector based on your interest and natural ability; your chances of success automatically increase.
