Since its foundation, various Uttarakhand Governments keep calling the tourism as the back bone of Uttarakhand economy. Although, much is being done in this regard, but still much needs to be done,. In an effort to give fresh boost to tourism in Uttarakhand, the state government has identified 21 lesser known places with natural beauty to develop them into major tourist destinations.

The effort which aims to add more tourist destinations in Uttarakhand on the world map, plans to develop 21 places as Tourist destinations which include Baijnath, Jageshwar, Saat Taal, Bhimtal, Chakori, Patal Bhuvaneshwar, Pithoragarh, Someshwar, Roopkund, Chakrata, Anson Barrage, Hanaul, Dhanaulti, Harshil and Dayara meadow. Besides, places like Tons in Garhwal division and Jauljiwi in Kumaon will be developed as adventure tourism destinations

Hope that the Government works on this plan diligently and these places are turned into major tourist destinations in Uttarakhand like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Nainital and the famous char dhaams.
