45 Percent in Graduation for UTET criteria as illegal, Uttarakhand HC Nainital. Orders a fresh UTET for deprived candidates.

In a landmark verdict, the Uttarakhand High Court Nainital yesterday declared the 45 Percent in Graduation for UTET criteria as illegal. The Court ordered the Uttarakhand Government to abolish the '45 Percent in Graduation criteria for UTET'; and allow the candidates with less than 45 percent marks in graduation appear in UTET.

Taking cognisance (in Hindi "Sangyan") of the fact that many candidates with less than 45 percent marks in graduation were prevented from taking UTET; the Honorable HC ordered the Uttarakhand Government (Uttarakhand Board) to release a fresh notification for the UTET 2013 inviting candidates with below 45 percent marks in graduation, so that all such deprived candidates can appear in the Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test.

The judgement came from the Single bench of Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia.
