The Uttarakhand forest department on Tuesday announced that it will start a new tiger safari in Kotdwar. In addition, a big zoo will be opened at New Haldwani where Zebras will be introduced for the first time in state. The tiger Safari will be populated by the tigers which have become old or rescued on becoming handicapped due to mishaps, informed Dinesh Aggarwal, Uttarakhand forest minister. The Kotdwar area will double as a permanent shelter for these tigers, which usually turn to be man-eaters after losing their agility.

The zoo at New Haldwani will feature a three dimensional aquarium and exotic birds.
