Godmen need Marketing prowess !

The past couple of days have been hectic for Uttarakhand Shrines. Many politicians and key Government functionaries flocked these shrines for pilgrimage. As expected, the mammoth stature of these high profile bhakts, made these pilgrimages big events requiring massive manpower, resource and money mobilizations. Not to mention, the large marketing handles to publicize these events were also there.

That said, it's not uncommon to see mortals flock to the Gods' abode to get the much needed divine energy. Theists in all religions can be blamed for doing that. Although there are shades and extents to such a desire.

Humans (mortals) wish to please the God(s) to get their ordinary wishes fulfilled. The not so ordinary ones want to prove to the World that they are part of the Godly clan. And here the marketing handle comes into use. Why go very far, take the example of some very popular Godmen among us and in confines. They first dress-up, mimic and present themselves like Gods. Then they encourage their bhakts to address their leader or Guru (or whatever you call them) as God send or someone equivalent to God. Finally, they themselves admit that they are the One (the Chosen One!).
